Your OPS Bargaining Teams needs your continued support

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The Central/Unified and Corrections Bargaining Teams want to thank you for all your hard work these last few weeks. Thanks to the strong mandate you gave us, we continue to negotiate at the table with the employer to get a fair and reasonable contract.

Your ongoing worksite activities, MPP pickets and work demonstrations continue to let the employer know that we are strong and united.

We have been getting questions on what else can members do. We encourage all members to contact their MPPs and have a discussion with them about keeping services public. This is an important lobby as the government is setting the agenda and we need them to move off their “slash and burn” austerity program.

“The Auditor General has confirmed that privatization and outsourcing is an $8 billion waste of taxpayer’s money.” This is the same message we have been giving to the government for years. We know that our members can provide these services better and cheaper than the private sector.

Please go directly to the MPPs, and ask them why they hate public sector workers so much and why we are being treated badly at the bargaining table. Take the time to email, phone, and go in person and demand that the Liberal government stop wasting money with consultants and outsourcing and to stop dismantling our public services.

If your MPP is not a Liberal, ask them to raise questions to stop the waste and to protect our valuable services.

In addition, all workplace activities are welcome. Continue to wear OPSEU blue or hold black Tuesdays, wear your OPSEU lanyards, keep your collective agreement on your desk, and hold information pickets. Make as much noise as you can in the workplace so that the employer knows we are fed up being the scapegoats for their bad spending. Send your pictures to mpark[at]opseu.org. We also encourage you to attend your strike preparedness meetings.

Continue to check and monitor the OPSEU website for information at www.opseu.org

Thank you for your support!

In Solidarity
