The Team is lead by Chair Roxanne Barnes and Vice-Chair Ron Langer.  Both are experienced, determined leaders who will serve us well as we enter bargaining.  The team is a very strong one, but we will need the support of the members as we move forward.  So let me put forth the difficult conversation nobody wants to hear….

Don Drummond doesn’t want us to have a defined benefit pension plan.  Bob Stark has announced he is selling us off to the highest bidder.  And Uncle Dalton wants to lay us all off so he can “rein in the unions”.   At what point are you folks going to say “No”?   A great hitter in baseball only remains great if he has a solid hitter behind him in the lineup.  You, the membership, have to be the Team’s solid hitter behind us.  This will be critical to achieving a fair collective agreement.  This local was massively strong in 2002 when they came after us, particularly targeting our pension plan.  We need that resolve again now.  You made your wishes loud and clear on the bargaining surveys.  So help us get there.
